Ombré Pillow :: DIY

I have at home my summer bed linen, and the winter ones. It might sounds a bit weird but I need to have pastel, fresh tones or colorful sheets for hot days and warm ones for winter.

Now it has been said you will easily understand why I needed these fresh tones of light blue and white for this hot summer we are having here in France ! These colors remind me small greek island or summer sky...
No need to say those pillowcase have become my favorite since I made them !

You need:

2 white pillowcases
1 fabric dying kit (I used n°26 Ocean Blue from DYLON)
200 gr salt
A large basin

* Pour 3 L hot water into your basin. Add 1/4 from your fabric dying and mix it with the salt. Stir until salt has dissolved.
* Rince the pillowcase (washed them before if they are new) and place them one over the other into the basin.
* Immerse them up to the chosen height (here half the pillowcase) and let them soak for 2 minutes or until the fabric gets the shade you want. Don't let them soak too long as you are making here the lighter shade of blue.
* Slightly take the pillowcases off the basin to immerse around 1/3 of them. Let soak for 10 minutes or so.
* Repeat one last time taking off the pillowcases to immerse only 8-10 cm and let soak 20 to 30 minutes.

* Once the ombré effect is done rinse your pillowcases with cold water to take off remaining fabric dying. Do it until water gets clear.
* Place the pillowcases into your washing-machine and wash them without washing powder, on 30°C.
* Let them dry and you're done.
* Tadaaaammmm !!!
